Abilene Christian University (ACU) is a private, Christian university located in Abilene, Texas. Founded in 1906, ACU is the largest private university in the Big Country region of Texas. ACU is affiliated with the Churches of Christ and offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs. ACU is home to the Wildcats, the university’s athletic teams. The Wildcats compete in the NCAA Division I Southland Conference and have won numerous conference championships in various sports. The Wildcats have had a long history of success in football, with the team winning four national championships and appearing in the Division I-AA playoffs six times. The Wildcats also have a successful basketball program, with the men’s team making nine NCAA tournament appearances and the women’s team making four NCAA tournament appearances.
