Bowling Green State University (BGSU) is a public research university located in Bowling Green, Ohio. Founded in 1910, BGSU is the oldest university in the state of Ohio. The university offers over 200 undergraduate and graduate programs, and is home to the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business Administration, the College of Education and Human Development, the College of Health and Human Services, and the College of Musical Arts.
BGSU is a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and fields 19 varsity sports teams. The school’s athletic teams, known as the Falcons, compete in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The Falcons have won numerous conference championships in various sports, including the football team’s MAC championship in 2013. The school also has a strong tradition of success in men’s basketball, having won the MAC championship in 2009, 2011, and 2018.
BGSU also has a strong tradition of success in other sports, including men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s track and field, and baseball. The school also has a strong tradition of success in women’s volleyball, having won the MAC championship in 2013 and 2014.
BGSU is also home to a number of club and intramural sports teams. The school’s intramural sports program is one of the largest in the country, with over 3,000 participants each year. The school also offers a variety of club sports, including ice hockey, lacrosse, rugby, and ultimate Frisbee.
