Cal State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) is a comprehensive public university located in Bakersfield, California. Founded in 1965, CSUB is part of the 23-campus California State University system and offers more than 60 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. With an enrollment of over 10,000 students, CSUB is the only four-year public university in the greater Bakersfield area.
CSUB is a member of the NCAA Division I and competes in the Big West Conference. The university fields 11 varsity sports teams, including men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, cross country, and track and field. The men’s basketball team is the most successful team at CSUB, having won the Big West Conference Championship in 2011 and 2013.
