Cleveland State University

Cleveland State University (CSU) is a public university located in the heart of Cleveland, Ohio. Founded in 1964, CSU is now a comprehensive urban research university with an enrollment of more than 17,000 students. The university is a member of the Horizon League, and its sports teams compete in NCAA Division I. CSU’s athletic program is known as the Vikings, and the university fields teams in men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, cross country, track and field, and volleyball. The men’s basketball team has been a perennial powerhouse in the Horizon League, making the NCAA Tournament in 2009 and 2016. The women’s basketball team has also had success, winning the Horizon League championship in 2018 and making the NCAA Tournament in 2019. The university also sponsors a variety of club sports, including men’s and women’s ice hockey, lacrosse, rugby, and ultimate frisbee. These teams compete in the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association, the Midwest Collegiate Lacrosse League, the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association, and the Ultimate Players Association, respectively. CSU also offers a number of intramural sports, including basketball, dodgeball, flag football, soccer, softball, and volleyball. These sports are open to all students, faculty, and staff, and provide a great way to stay active and have fun. No matter what your interests are, CSU offers something for everyone.
