Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) is a public university located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Founded in 1911, MTSU is the second largest university in the state and the largest in the Middle Tennessee region. With more than 25,000 students enrolled, MTSU offers more than 140 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
MTSU is home to a wide variety of sports teams, including men’s and women’s basketball, football, soccer, baseball, softball, golf, and track and field. The Blue Raiders, as they are known, compete in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision and are members of Conference USA. The football team has won several conference championships, including the 2020 C-USA title.
The men’s basketball team has been to the NCAA tournament five times, most recently in 2019. The women’s basketball team has been to the NCAA tournament eight times, most recently in 2020. The soccer team has been to the NCAA tournament four times, most recently in 2019.
MTSU also offers a variety of intramural sports, including basketball, flag football, soccer, softball, and volleyball. The university also has a recreational center with a pool, racquetball courts, and a weight room.
