Texas State University-San Marcos (TXST) is a public research university located in San Marcos, Texas. Founded in 1899, TXST is the fifth-oldest university in the state of Texas and is a member of the Texas State University System. With a student enrollment of over 38,000, TXST is the largest university in the system and one of the largest universities in the state. TXST offers over 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including a wide range of professional and liberal arts degrees. The university is also home to the Texas State University-San Marcos Bobcats, the school’s official athletic program. The Bobcats compete in the NCAA Division I Sun Belt Conference and are a member of the Southland Conference for football. The Bobcats have had a long history of success in athletics, having won numerous conference championships and producing many All-Americans. The men’s basketball team has made seven NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2021. The football team has also had success, having won the Southland Conference championship in 2018 and making two bowl appearances. In addition to their NCAA Division I sports, TXST also offers a wide range of intramural sports, club sports, and recreational activities. The university is home to the Texas State Aquatic Center, which features an Olympic-sized pool, diving boards, and a water slide. TXST also offers a variety of outdoor activities, such as camping, canoeing, and kayaking. TXST is a great place to pursue a college education and participate in athletics.
